Privacy Policy
This policy explains what data the Synk: Music Together app ("Synk", "we", "us") collects, why, who it is shared with, and the choices you have. Synk is developed and operated by CodeRaksh, Jalandhar, Punjab, India. If you have a question, write to sundeepgupta027@gmail.com.
In short
- You can use Synk as a guest without giving us your name or email.
- We collect what the app needs to work: your account, the username you pick, your likes and playlists, rooms you create and messages you post in them.
- Voice and video in huddles go directly between the phones in the call. We never record or store them.
- We use Google services for sign-in, storage, analytics, crash reports and ads, RevenueCat for subscriptions, and YouTube and Radio Browser for music.
- We don't sell your data.
- You can delete your account in the app at any time (Profile → Delete account).
1. Data we collect
Account and profile
- Sign-in: a user ID for every account. If you sign in with Google (or Apple on iPhone), we also receive your email address and, if your account has them, your name and profile photo. Guest accounts have only the user ID.
- Profile: the username you choose, your avatar (an emoji and a colour), your music "vibes", your Pro status, and the rooms you have joined on the free plan.
Content you create
- Songs you like and playlists you make.
- Rooms you create: room name, settings, queue and what is playing.
- Chat messages and reactions you post in rooms.
- While you are in a room: your presence (username and avatar) so others can see who is listening.
Huddles (voice and video calls in a room)
Huddles use the microphone and, if you turn it on, the camera. The app asks for these permissions only when you start or join a huddle. Audio and video travel directly between the devices in the call over an encrypted connection (WebRTC). They do not pass through our database, and nothing is recorded or stored. To set up the call, the devices exchange connection details (including IP addresses) through our database; these are removed when you leave. The other people in the call and the connection servers (Google's STUN server and, on some networks, a TURN relay) can see your IP address.
Purchases
Synk Pro subscriptions are sold through Google Play (or the App Store on iPhone). Payments are handled by Google or Apple; we never see your card or bank details. We receive a record of your purchase (plan, dates, status) linked to your Synk user ID.
Usage, diagnostics and device data
- Analytics: how the app is used, such as screens opened and features used (for example, viewing the Pro page or watching a rewarded ad), with an app instance ID and general device information.
- Crash reports: when the app crashes or hits an error, a report with the error, device model, OS version and app version.
- Advertising: if you are on the free plan and choose to watch a rewarded ad, Google AdMob may collect your device's advertising ID, IP address (used to estimate your general location) and interactions with the ad.
Stored only on your phone
Recent searches, recently played tracks, your theme, cached lists and daily usage counters are saved on your device and are not sent to us. Uninstalling the app or clearing its data removes them.
We do not collect your precise location, contacts, photos, files, SMS or call logs.
2. How we use it
- To run the app: sign you in, show your profile, sync music in rooms, deliver chat and connect huddles.
- To provide Synk Pro: check your subscription and unlock features, and apply free-plan limits.
- To show rewarded ads on the free plan, only when you choose to watch one.
- To keep Synk safe: prevent spam and abuse, enforce our Terms and respond to reports.
- To fix bugs and improve the app, using analytics and crash reports.
3. Who can see it and who we share it with
Other Synk users can see your username, avatar and vibes; rooms you create (public rooms appear in Discover); your messages and reactions in a room; and your presence while you are in a room.

Music sources. When you search or play music, the app contacts these services directly:
- YouTube. Synk uses YouTube API Services to search and play videos. Your search terms go to YouTube, and the YouTube player may set cookies and collect data under Google's policies. By using YouTube features in Synk you agree to the YouTube Terms of Service, and the Google Privacy Policy applies.
- Radio Browser (radio-browser.info), a community directory of radio stations, receives station searches. The radio stream itself comes from the station's own server, which sees your IP address.
Google's privacy policy is at policies.google.com/privacy and RevenueCat's at revenuecat.com/privacy. Google explains how it uses data from apps that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
We may also disclose data when the law requires it, to protect the rights and safety of our users or others, or as part of a merger or sale of the app (in which case this policy continues to apply). We do not sell your personal data.
4. Where your data is stored
Our providers store data on their servers, which may be outside India (for example, in the United States or the European Union). They protect it under their own security and privacy commitments.
5. How long we keep it
- Account, profile, likes and playlists: until you delete your account.
- Rooms and room chat: kept with the room. They are not removed automatically when you delete your account; email us and we will remove your messages and the rooms you created within 30 days.
- Room presence and huddle connection details: removed when you leave the room or huddle.
- Crash reports: up to 90 days. Analytics: up to 14 months.
- Purchase records: as long as tax and accounting laws require.
6. Your choices and rights
- Access and correct: view and edit your profile in the app, or ask us for a copy of your data.
- Delete: delete your account in the app (Profile → Delete account) or follow the steps at Delete your account.
- Permissions: you can turn off microphone, camera and notification access at any time in your phone's settings. Huddles won't work without the microphone.
- Ads: ads are optional and only appear when you choose to watch one. You can reset your advertising ID or opt out of personalised ads in your phone's settings (Android: Settings → Privacy → Ads). Where the law requires it (such as the EEA and UK), we ask for your consent first.
- Withdraw consent or raise a grievance by emailing us. Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 you may also nominate someone to exercise your rights and, if you are not satisfied with our response, complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
We answer requests within 30 days.
7. Security
All data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS). Access to stored data is limited by security rules so that each person can only change their own data. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a Google or Apple account protected with a strong password or two-step verification.
8. Children
Synk is meant for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you believe a child is using Synk, email us and we will delete the account.
9. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top and, for important changes, tell you in the app.
